In September 2014 Gregory F. Nowak was assigned as the Division Command Sergeant Major, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Command Sergeant Major Nowak entered the Army in October 1988 and graduated One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia as an Infantryman.
During his 26 years of service, Command Sergeant Major Nowak has held numerous Soldier and leadership positions to include: Rifleman, Grenadier, Team Leader, Operations NCO, Bradley Fighting Vehicle Gunner, Bradley Fighting Vehicle Commander, Squad Leader, Section Leader, Platoon Sergeant, Drill Sergeant, Senior Drill Sergeant, First Sergeant, Operations Sergeant Major, Battalion Command Sergeant Major, and Brigade Command Sergeant Major.
His previous assignments include: 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team Korea, , Mission Command Training Program, 1-48 Infantry Basic Fort Leonardwood, 1st Battalion 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment Fort Bragg, Delta Company 2nd Battalion 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment Fort Bragg, 2nd Battalion 58th Infantry Regiment Fort Benning, Delta Company 1st Battalion 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment Fort Bragg, Charlie Company 1st Battalion 9th Cavalry Regiment Fort Hood, Charlie Company 6th Battalion 6th Infantry Regiment Bamberg Germany, and Delta Company 2nd Battalion 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment Fort Bragg.
Command Sergeant Major Nowak’s military education and civilian education include: all of the NCOES courses, to include the USASMA, First Sergeant Course, Ranger Course, Master Fitness Course, Reppel Master Course, Air Assault School, Drill Sergeant Course, Bradley Leaders Course, Jumpmaster Course, Airborne Course, Jungle Operations Training Course, US Air Force Air Movement Control Operations Course. CSM Nowak has a BS Degree in Liberal Arts and has continued to further his civilian education by pursuing an MBA through North Central University, Prescott AZ.
His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Meritorious Service Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Achievement Medal three Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal seventh award, The Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal Panama, NCO Officers Professional Development Ribbon with numeral three, National Defense Service Ribbon with on Bronze Star, South West Asia Service Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, Kuwaiti Liberation Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Valorous Unit Award, with Oak Leaf Cluster, Presidential Unit Citation, Ranger Tab, Overseas Service Ribbon, Combat Infantryman's Badge with second award, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Drill Sergeants Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge.
Command Sergeant Major Nowak is married and has one son.
